Jansons Property recently announced an alternative proposal for the access to and redevelopment of Wilton Park, which we believe will offer a better scheme for Beaconsfield. A new website will shortly go live providing further information about our proposal. Meanwhile, here are some answers to a few questions we have been asked.
1. Why have Jansons only just made their interest known?
Jansons is a local company based in Beaconsfield, whose interest in the Wilton Park project is driven by Andy Jansons’ conviction that the local community should be given a choice. We have engaged with various stakeholders, including the MoD, South Buck District Council, Beaconsfield Town Council and Wilton Park Watch to understand the local concerns and aspirations in considering our alternative, which will help address traffic concerns.
2. Will Jansons alternative proposal affect the relief road around Beaconsfield?
Jansons fully supports the Council’s proposal of an A355 Relief Road and would be able to make a financial contribution towards this scheme. Furthermore, our scheme would seek to complement efforts to reduce congestion on the A355 and Pyebush Roundabout, which are already heavily used.
3. Why haven’t Jansons produced any plans for the re-development itself?
Jansons would like to undertake consultation to understand and consider the needs and aspirations of the local community before preparing a plan for exhibition. Potentially, there are facilities which would be preferable to preserve and amalgamate into the whole Beaconsfield community, but we will only prepare a plan when we have spoken to local residents to find out what you want.
4. What will happen to the current plans to redevelop Wilton Park?
The MoD has yet to select a preferred bidder to redevelop Wilton Park. Our introduction into the market will provide the local community with a choice of schemes. Healthy competition will allow community choice and for the potential for a greater return for the local community and taxpayer, through improved negotiation for infrastructure funding.
