Many of you will know that we at Jansons have a lot of love for Edinburgh, having spent some years pulling together and building SoCo, followed closely by the Ibis Budget Hotel at Edinburgh Business Park. Well, we’ve bagged another one! Can you guess where from the picture above?

The India Buildings in Victoria Street are a well known Edinburgh landmark, just off The Royal Mile and opposite The Missoni Hotel. The buildings are in quite a bad state of disrepair but lots of fine features have survived, such as the cupola, a hint of which you saw above and shown in it’s full glory here.

The building currently houses an art gallery and coffee shop, though they will have to move in July/ August to make way for C Venues, who host a myriad of shows here during the Edinburgh Festival. It’s a rabbit warren of a building, with floors above and below ground.

As well as the building itself, we have bought land behind it, see the picture below. This will enable us to be much more flexible with the site. We are working closely with, among others, Edinburgh World Heritage, who have a keen interest in this building.
